Greenhouse Gases is a gas in atmosphere that absorbs and emit radiation or simply it is the gases that help to capture heat and it includes water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. Other greenhouse gases like hydro fluorocarbons, per fluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride all these occur due to human intervention and are result of industrial processes.
Human Activities and Greenhouse Gases
Below mentioned are greenhouse gases emitted by human activities
- Carbon Dioxide- It is released into atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuels, wood and wood related products.
- Nitrous Oxide- It is released into air due to agricultural or industrial process or when solid waste or fossil fuel is burned.
- Methane- It is emitted when organic waste is decomposed, it occurs more during the production and transport of fossil fuel.
Excess of Greenhouse gases has led to global warming. The higher the concentration of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in atmosphere, the more heat energy is reflected back to earth. The emission of carbon dioxide into environment is due to burning of fossil fuels, gases emitted by automobile or through industrial processes. The major effect of global warming is enlisted below
- Increase in temperature of earth by 3 degree to 5 degree.
- Increase in sea levels by 25 meters.
Global Warming is a signal to prevent environment otherwise earth will become like any other planet where human sustainability isn’t confirmed. Follow tips on going green and save planet. These tips can be applied in everyday life.
